Enjoy Some Summer Sun in Mallorca

Mallorca continues to be a top family holiday destination for a number of key reasons, such as its wide range of entertainment activities, excellent prices and availability, superb hospitality and the gorgeous weather! The island is also perfect for travelling around and with car hire in Mallorca you can visit most attractions quickly and easily with minimal stress.

There is something for everyone on this beautiful Balearic island. For example, party fans will love the infamous Magaluf with its noisy bars, clubs and internationally-renowned DJs. Nature lovers who are in search of a more tranquil experience will adore the rolling green fields and broad plains of Es Pla. Those who enjoy the good life won’t be able to resist Palma, with its fabulous shopping and restaurants. There’s nothing like a long tapas lunch on a shaded terrace!

Palma also offers amazing things to see, such as its museums, old castles and the various cathedrals. The harbour is also very popular and a wonderful spot to watch the world go by. Why not also take a ride on a glass-bottomed boat in Calas de Majorca, or stroll through the verdant botanical gardens at Soller? A glass of sangria enjoyed in the town square is also a wonderful treat.

Food is one of the main passions of the local people and it shows in their delicious cuisine. If you love gastronomy, you’ll be in seventh heaven with the local tapas and abundance of fresh seafood. The island has a wealth of restaurants, from authentic family-run local restaurants selling local dishes made from the freshest ingredients, through to international cuisine bars and restaurants. Try out Magaluf and Palma Nova as well as Palmoa – yes, there are places serving the typical British fry-up breakfast if that floats your boat!

Of course, the beaches are the main draw of this destination, particularly for families and groups. Head to the north of the island for long sandy stretches of coast and to the east for tiny coves surrounded by pines. Puerto De Soller is very popular for its town beach and Cala D’or has wonderful inlets and coves, which can become very busy.

There is plenty of accommodation in the area, from self-catering villas and catered resorts to hotels and hostels. There are also many cheap flights leaving from most UK regional airports. Book well in advance to get the best prices and availability, particularly in peak season, as many people do return year after year to their favourite spots.
