Sorry, theistards. Einstein was on our side.

5/13/2008 | 11:32 PM | Evolved Rationalist

Although theistards have often tried to use Einstein to promote their side, Einstein was in fact no friend of religion. Here are a few quotes that describe what Einstein thought about religion, from a letter that will soon be sold in London:

"The word God is for me nothing more than the expression and product of human weaknesses, the Bible a collection of honourable, but still primitive legends which are nevertheless pretty childish. No interpretation no matter how subtle can (for me) change this."

"For me the Jewish religion like all others is an incarnation of the most childish superstitions."

"The Jewish people to whom I gladly belong and with whose mentality I have a deep affinity have no different quality for me than all other people."

"As far as my experience goes, they are no better than other human groups, although they are protected from the worst cancers by a lack of power. Otherwise I cannot see anything 'chosen' about them."

Awww, poor theistards.

Now, whenever we see theistards claiming that Einstein was on their side, we would know that they are either ignorant, dishonest, or simply deluded dumbfucks for their imaginary sky-daddy.

Disclaimer: This is not an 'argument from authority'. I am not claiming that we should be atheists because Einstein said so. The purpose of this post was to debunk the stupid theist assertion that Einstein was a believer/sympathizer of their credulous cult.

So what if Einstein was an atheist? No matter how smart you think he is, he is burning in hell now with all the other scientists who think that they are too smart for G-d.

He was not a theist in the sense of being Christian or Muslim or Jew, but he did believe in some form of a higher power. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Albert_Einstein#religious_views Your right in saying he was no friend to Fundamentalists or Abrahamic monotheists like myself. He believed in God the same way Baruch Spinoza believed in God.

The word God is for me nothing more than the expression and product of human weaknesses...(Einstein)

Based on this just-discovered letter, he apparently was an atheist.

Christislord12, please remain in your cocoon of stupid and leave us alone.

I have set up a blog to EXPOSE the lies here!!!!!!

I am a scientist at AiG.

I don't like Einstein. He was a commie and was bigoted towards religion-critics who he considered as bad as fundies.

Sure, he was against religion too, but the fact that he disrespects freethinkers and "professional atheists" would make him just a distraction in our time.

Creationist: There are no scientists at AiG. Duh. What do creation scientists do in their labs? Conjure wombats from nothing? Please. You know what, you might like my AiG contest. Check it out here. The first person to publish a crank paper in the Answers Research Journal (and realize that it is a crank paper), gets a gift certificate for Amazon or something.

christislord12: You are pig-ignorant. Staggeringly certain that idiocy is better than self-improvement and working to understand man's place in the universe. I pity you and your family.

S-dog, I was gonna write about this one at my place, but I knew that you would take care of it. You go, girl!

I never did understand why some people felt compelled to place Einstein in the theist camp because it was obvious to me that his idea of "God" had no relation to Christianity's. Besides, why appeal to Einstein for support when we have so many others to support us:

"My attempts to demonstrate evolution by an experiment carried on for more than 40 years have completely failed.....It is not even possible to make a caricature of an evolution out of paleobiological facts...The idea of an evolution rests on pure belief."

(Dr. Nils Heribert-Nilsson, noted Swedish botanist and geneticist, of Lund University)

While I don't subscribe to your particular worldview, I commend you evolutionists for your faith!

Shit, if nils heribert-nilsson has a problem with evolution, then I have to pack it in. I'm going to get on my knees and pray jeebus for forgiveness.

After all, who am i to argue with a guy who believed that the earth routinely captured a new moon at regular intervals, causing the other satellite to crash into us, and that these recurrent catastrophes drove the creation of new taxa through spontaneous generation? That is SO much more convincing than humdrum old descent with modification.

Thanks for sharing, murf, but you really should google these birds before you quote mine them

Jeez Einstein! tell us what you really think! Haha, nice quote!

Einstein's "god" was a rational clockwork universe that could be predicted mathematically. That's why he loathed quantum mechanics and the uncertaintly it threw into everything.

    Created Rationalist,

Einstein did not believe in any higher power except for the laws of the universe. He used the word "God" in poetic terms occasionally, but so does Stephen Hawking... who is definitely an Atheist.

Also, ER's source was a newly released letter from Einstein himself. Your source was Wikipedia. You fail.

Also, the letter she quotes on Evovled and Rational quotes was written shortly before he died. Therefore, these were his last and definitive statements on religion.

Isn't it nice to see Christislord12's christian love and empathy? It's seething through all his threats of hell. See how much better religion makes people? LOL. If you read the comments of theists on most sites, then read the comments of freethinkers, who sounds more intelligent? Studies have shown that the more educated you are and the higher your I.Q., the LESS religious you tend to be.
