Con artists for Jesus, anyone?

10/29/2008 | 11:44 PM | Evolved Rationalist

Someone sent me a link to an old article about Christian con-artists through IM, but somehow I am finding it really hard to feel any sympathy for this self-deceiving believer who was conned by 'prosperity' preachers. When you're so fucking gullible and ready to be a sheep for your religion, what else did you expect to happen?

The message flickered into Cindy Fleenor's living room each night: Be faithful in how you live and how you give, the television preachers said, and God will shower you with material riches
Bullshit. The Christian god is a myth, and the prosperity con artists are just out to get your money. Grow up, wake up, and stop being a gullible pushover.

"Prosperity theology" is an example of circular reasoning. God blessed some people of his choice with economical prosperity and good health, etc. So, if you enjoy economical prosperity and good health, you are blessed by God. If you do not enjoy them, you are not blessed. So, we live in a perfect world: blessed people are happy and "unblessed" people are happily punished. Totally Panglossian (and theistarded).

*rolls eyes*

Perhaps the worst part of this kind of circular reasoning is the role of "intermediate partners" between God and you (Church, independent ministers, spiritual councillors, etc.). Why the hell are intermediate partners needed? If God has chosen to bless you, you will be happy no matter of your faith or behaviour. If god has chosen to put you in hell, you are damned anyway. What the flying fuck, theistards?

Didn't the Bible also mention something about how Christians are not supposed to love the world? Alas, in Christianity as in all other religions, hypocrisy pays.
Only the blessings didn't come. Fleenor ended up borrowing money from friends and payday loan companies just to buy groceries. At first she believed the explanation given on television: Her faith wasn't strong enough.
This is the reason why Christian con artists are vile and despicable. After duping their sheep of of their money, they put the blame on their sheep for not having enough faith. Christianity is all one giant guilt trip, and the disgusting televangelists are simply making the most out of it.
"I wanted to believe God wanted to do something great with me like he was doing with them," she said. "I'm angry and bitter about it. Right now, I don't watch anyone on TV hardly."
Run! Run away from your religion of myths and lies as fast as you can, and don't look back.
"More and more people are desperate and grasping at straws and want something that will alleviate their pain or financial crisis," said Michael Palmer, dean of the divinity school at Regent University, founded by Pat Robertson. "It's a growing problem."
If they want something to rely on and are unable to cope with their problems themselves, how about getting help from other people? Why put so much blind faith in an imaginary sky-daddy the way children put their hopes in the tooth fairy? Deluded and brainwashed much?
The modern-day prosperity movement can largely be traced back to evangelist Oral Roberts' teachings.
Oral Roberts is the con artist who claimed that god would kill him unless his sheep gave him six million. The worse part of it all was that theistards actually fell for it.

Any wonder why I call them theistards?
One of the teaching's attractions is that it doesn't dwell on traditional Christian themes of heaven and hell but on answering pressing concerns of the here and now, said Brian McLaren, a liberal evangelical author and pastor.
Most Christians are worldly hypocrites. No surprise there.
The checks and balances central to Christian denominations are largely lacking in prosperity churches. One of the pastors in the Grassley probe, Bishop Eddie Long of suburban Atlanta, has written that God told him to get rid of the "ungodly governmental structure" of a deacon board.
How could his flock be so deluded as to not notice this blatant lie? The only way he could be honest about talking to god is if he is a schizoid who hears voices in his demented head.

It appalls me how willing people are to be fleeced, and how shamelessly and amorally people like Hinn, Roberts, Tilton and the rest of them all line up to fleece them. And when they're exposed for the filthy crooks they are, the sheep are still in awe of them as "men of God," and dutifully line up to be sheared. Nothing brings the stupid like religion. And nothing exposes religion for what it is — a money machine — like these slimeball evangelical hucksters.

[sarcasm] Praise the Lord for modern Christianity! [/sarcasm]

10/26/2008 | 11:51 AM | Evolved Rationalist

The theistarded bigot that I blogged about in my previous post has now set her blog to invite only (DELETE FUCKING EVERYTHING, amirite?) after realizing that her delicious dox is now floating around the /i/nternet the love of Jesus is not going to protect her from all the love that she is currently receiving as a result of her bigotry.

Isn't it telling, folks? Isn't it telling that for all the fundie preaching that she has been doing, she doesn't think that relying on the imaginary sky-daddy that she so loves is going to do her any good in this situation. She doesn't trust her sky-daddy to help her deflect criticism, she doesn't trust her sky-daddy to protect her from /i/nternet love, she doesn't trust her sky-daddy to protect her from Ra/i/d insecticide people who might just try to fight fire with fire, she doesn't trust her sky-daddy to remove her dox from the /i/nternet, ad infinitum. Isn't it telling that a lot of fundies ultimately rely on completely secular methods of dealing with serious business a serious situation instead of just putting their faith in their god? Yes, they sure froth and whine and BAWWWW a lot about their imaginary sky-daddy and claim that we must have faith in him or burn in hell, but they sure as hell (pun intended) are not practicing what they preach.

If the Christian god indeed exists, something tells me that he must have a nice place filled with fire and brimstone waiting for those "lukewarm Christians" that the schizoid book of Revelations warns against.

What the fundie bigot did is actually what we see everyday in situations where Christians trust modern medicine instead of praying to their god for a cure. Her reaction to the whole situation is scarily, perfectly normal on the scale of fundie lunacy. In the end, the fundie theistards subconsciously realize that their god is not going to do anything for them no matter how much they lick his imaginary ass. They are fully aware of it on a subconscious level as seen by their actions, but their theistarded delusion keeps them from processing this truth, lest they lose faith and burn in hell for over 9000 years eternity. This is why atheists should be more vocal in pointing out the stupidity, lack of faith, and contradictions inherent in the Christian myth. Maybe, just maybe, a theistard or two will wake up from the delusion of religion.

For all her promotion of Jesus-love in the form of bigotry towards people that her particular zombie god cult decided to discriminate against, for all her BAWWWWing over Sodomites and how she is the brave and valiant defender of truth, for all her rants against actual education and her promotion of 'homeschooling for god (theistarded dumbfuckery)', for all her brain cells she sacrificed in the name of Jesus, her zombie god did not step in to defend her from the consequences of her bigotry - and subconsciously, she knew it!

Telling, isn't it? Why so faithless, theistards?

Also, since I like delicious dox...

How to be a typical fundie blogger

10/24/2008 | 2:42 PM | Evolved Rationalist

1. Post something so mind-numbingly stupid/bigoted/theistarded.
2. Get called out for your stupidity.
4. ???

I'm sure a lot of you would have already heard about a certain bigoted, fundie homeschooling mom who endorses terroristic acts against gays because the Bible says "Kill them all!".

Now, what did you think would happen after more rational people called her out on her vile attitude? What do fundies do when confronted with ideas that don't fit into their theistarded Biblical worldview? What do the lolcows over at Uncommonly Dense often do when their claims are totally trounced?

This particular fundie followed the theistarded formula to a T. First, she disabled comments to her post (a lot of fundie bloggers do this); and after she couldn't stand the butthurt, she decided to DELETE FUCKING EVERYTHING (a lot of fundie bloggers do this as well).

Oh lawd is that some lulz?

The lulziest thing about this fundie is that she is also a failure at the internet. Apparently not realizing that the leetest of the leet archiving tools Google Cache was invented years ago, the fundie theistard assumed that she could FORGET FUCKING EVERYTHING and DENY FUCKING EVERYTHING after deciding to DELETE FUCKING EVERYTHING. However, being the ever-eager milker of lolcows that I am, I took a screenshot of the cached version of her blog post for the lulz and for great justice. Read her post and prepare to feel even more pessimistic about humanity.

As with all fundies, the lulz did not stop there. After realizing that her delicious dox could be easily obtained from the phone book, she decided to change her posting name and location from her blog. Wouldn't her god protect her from her haters since she's speaking in his name after all? This seems like a lack of faith on her part, and let's hope that her vengeful god doesn't decided to smite her and roast her in hell with the gays she so hates.

Raani J. Starnes

Delicious dox, how sweet the sound...

If you think the lulz finally ends here - it doesn't! After the Teapot Atheist pointed out the fact that her dox was publicly available information, her husband, in a typical display of Christian love, decided that it was fine and dandy to issue a death threat. Boy, we do have a family of bigots, don't we?

By making that vile threat, her husband admitted that her dox was for real, and that her desperate attempts to DELETE FUCKING EVERYTHING and use another name and location was of no use. You know, pests are easier to deal with. You just spray Raid insecticide on them. When it comes to humans, bigots just need a little love, so feel free to send some love to the family of bigots.

I said love and not Ra/i/d, kids!

If her husband makes death threats on this site, his IP will be posted and the lulz will continue. No, I am not going to take her dox down, and posting publicly available information is not illegal. Don't even bother starting to BAWWWW, theistards.

Catnarök: Longcat vs Tacgnol

10/23/2008 | 12:54 PM | Evolved Rationalist

Awesome wallpaper is awesome.

For those of you who are scratching your heads right about now, LURK MOAR read more:

Catnarök is the doom of Anonymous, and the end of the chans.

It begins with three winters of wars in Miðgarð. Then Fimbulvetr follows, the winter of winters, with bitter frosts and biting winds. Three such winters will follow with no summer between them.

Cocks will crow to raise the fags in Colette's realm. Furries will sail with the myspace fags. The fags of Gaia will advance from the south, led by The Party Van. All will converge on the field: milhouse and the fags from Colette and Tacgnol and furries and Gaians and The Party Van and the myspacefags.

Meanwhile, the chans, roused by Anonymous' threads, will meet in council. Longcat will ride with Raptor Jesus to KFC. Lolis will shake and moan. All of the /b/tards and all of the /i/nsurgents will arm and prepare themselves and follow Longcat to Catnarok.

On the field of battle, Longcat will engage Tacgnol, while Serious Cat will be attacked by Milhouse, who is still not a meme. Cockmongler will fight the Party Van. Serious Cat will kill Milhouse with a single stroke, but will be, in turn, killed by furries. The furries will leap at the throats of the /b/tards, and they will kill each other.

The /i/nsurgents will kill gaia and myspace with a massive attack, but will drown in the venom spewed by the serpent. Tacgnol will seize Longcat between his jaws and swallow him. At once, Raptor Jesus, Longcat's son, will press one foot on Tacgnol's lower jaw and grab his upper jaw, tearing the Tacgnol apart and avenging his father.

The Party Van will fling subpoenas in all directions. 4chan and 420chan and 7chan and 12chan will become 404. The 'chans will burn and the memes will die. Men, women, and children will die, traps will die, camwhores will die. Birds and animals will die. The 'chans will sink into the sea.

Raptor Jesus, son of Longcat, will still be alive and will make his way to the intartubes, the shining plain where the chans once stood. /b/randon, son of Anonymous, will join him there, and he will inherit his father's taste for raep and traps. /b/tards and /i/nsurgents will come back from the world of the dead. They will fap and will build new boards.

With the rebirth after Catnarök, the golden age of Anonymous will return. A radiant chan will rise up which no flames of perdition can touch. In it's boards, the noble Anon who fought will live on in joy. The ignoble will be carried away by a huge cock to be assraeped and Raptor Jesus will build on the triumphant foundations laid down by Longcat. [The Book of Anon: The Book of Catnarok]

IDiocy: Can it get more pathetic than this?

10/22/2008 | 10:13 AM | Evolved Rationalist

Every once in a while you come across something so theistarded and sad that you almost think that it is all a big parody, except for the fact that it is 100% real. Next, you think that humanity is more fucked-up than you ever imagined, and you are even more horrified when you realize that a large segment of the population actually buys into that particular brand of bullshit.

Case in point: The Expelled DVD.

Okay, the fact that Expelled is a theistarded pile of dishonest dung is old news. The BAWWWWing and drama by the IDiots after getting epically pwned over 9000 times is also old news. Nothing could make the Expelled FAILshow even more of a failure, right?

Wrong, of course. When it comes to the cretinous, IDiotic, lying, theistarded morons, nothing is too stupid or too unbelievable. Are you ready for the latest cringe-worthy truckload of FAIL from the IDiots? Get ready for it now….

The person who wrote the promotional blurb for the cover of the Expelled DVD is Ben Stein himself.

"I love this film!" --Ben Stein

Let that sink in for a bit, folks.

Ben Stein wrote the cover blurb for his own movie. Ben Stein wrote the cover blurb for his own movie. Ben Stein wrote the cover blurb for his own movie. Ben Stein wrote the cover blurb for his own movie. Ben Stein wrote the cover blurb for his own movie.

Can it get any more pathetic than that?

It seems like good old Stein couldn’t even get some theistarded church leader to promote his shitty crocumentary, and he had to resort to the usual IDiotic self-praise just like that other decrepit fool, William Dembski, who wrote positive reviews of his own book at Amazon under different names.

Those IDiots are like a train wreck that has greatly surpassed the point of providing lulz, but somehow we can’t seem to stop watching and cringing.

The failure! The irony! The Idiocy! The stupidity! IT BURNS!!

More on the theistarded sick fucks

10/20/2008 | 4:05 PM | Evolved Rationalist

In yet another example of theistarded puke-inducing behavior, churches are buying insurance policies to pay off people who have been sexually abused by the clergy. Apparently the love of god isn't enough to stop sexual abuse. Apparently their religion doesn't do a thing to promote good behavior - or to stop the clergy from blatantly abusing their position of power to exploit their theistarded flock. Apparently the church is aware of the sexual abuse problem while refusing to address the root of the problem.

[sarcasm]Sexual abuse by the clergy? It's AWWRIGHT because it is religion! It's even more AWWRIGHT when you can easily pay your victims off, amirite? It's AWWRIGHT for someone in the ultimate position of power (holding the keys to the afterlife) in a theistards' life to abuse and take advantage of the trust placed in them by theistarded sheep. It's AWWRIGHT, and we shouldn't address the root of the problem because it would cause religion to look bad, and it might piss of some religious folk. Remember, we are talking about religion here, and religion always provides an instant, magical barrier to criticism.

Religion: It's AWWRIGHT![/end sarcasm]

All this goes to show is that religion doesn't work. Religion doesn't help us lead a moral life, religion doesn't help dirty old priests keep their hands to themselves, religion doesn't make people less likely to commit crimes, religion doesn't....and the list goes on. Abstinence and celibacy simply do not work. Going against basic biology does not work. People who still think that sexual abuse is not a problem among supposedly 'celibate' and sex-deprived clergy need to get their heads out of their anal cavities and start confronting reality.

Is anyone surprised?

| 12:11 AM | Evolved Rationalist

Despite the fact that religion already has over 9000 harmful effects on modern society, we now have statistical data for what a lot of us have already known: Church pastors dismiss mental illness as something that is spiritual in nature.

Is anyone actually surprised here? People who think that they are hearing the voice of their imaginary sky daddy also think that mental illnesses are spiritual in nature. Once someone has bought into the shitpile of lies also known as fundamentalist theistarded religion, anything goes. Once you believe in stories like the ark, the flood, the resurrected zombie god, a man in a whale, etc., the sky is the limit for your credulity.

cf. You have just lost the game.

The ill effects of such a theistarded view does not end there:

Here's the thing: Other studies have found that clergy, and not psychologists or other mental health experts, are the most common source of help sought in times of psychological distress.
Theistards who are told that the church is the main source of enlightenment because they are speaking the world of god and that they somehow know the mind of god are naturally going to go down that path. All this isn't in any way surprising or new - it just goes to show how much religion can fuck up lives, and that we should not be as irresponsible as to be cowardly appeasers. The theistarded sheep who are currently trapped in the lie of religion need to be woken up for their sake.

Also, no, you have not seen the worst yet:
"Those whose mental illness is dismissed by clergy are not only being told they don't have a mental illness, they are also being told they need to stop taking their medication. That can be a very dangerous thing."

What the flying fuck? Why aren't more people calling out this bullshit for what it is: Theistarded lunacy? Why aren't more people speaking out and saying that enough is enough? Do people really think that just because it is religion, it's AWWRIGHT? Somebody needs to sue those assholes in court if their stupid, theistarded stance on medication causes harm to some deluded, theistarded moron. Seriously - wake the fuck up!

Wake up, you deluded theistarded dumbfucks! You are being taken for a ride and you are harming yourselves in the long run. Wake the fuck up before it is too late - the time to be nice and coddle you deluded sheep has long passed.

The urgency of dismantling the lie that is religion is undeniable except to those who have blinkers on their eyes, and as far as those people are concerned, fuck them. The time to act is now. Fuck the appeasers - they are more than welcome to do their own thing, but us 'militant atheists' will not be silenced by either them or the theistards.

Onwards, science soldiers!

For those of you who have not been keeping up with the local lolcows and their lulzy pwnages, I have included some links in this post to ensure that everyone has their fair share of the lulz. Click on the links and watch the pwnage for great justice.

PROTIP: Always remember that they fully deserved every bit of it.

To start off the show, we have our usual suspect Mary the Scilon. In an act of utter stupidity, she whined about how her previous two e-mails were 'hacked by the criminal gang Anonymous', BAWWWWed a bit about calling the FBI (same old, same old), and posted her third e-mail address on this site so that 'sympathetic people' could get in touch with her. What happened next was that her account was compromised by hackers on steroids from Ebaumsworld and her password was displayed on this blog by an Ebaums raider for everyone to see. Click here to read the thread and discover what her password was (it explains why her e-mail accounts keep getting compromised).

Next up, we have a misogynistic bastard calling himself 'a man' (probably to compensate for the size of his wee little penis). After making idiotic remarks about how women should be barefoot and pregnant and that 'women should not be allowed to step foot in hacker conventions, except as paid whores' (LOLWUT?), he proceeded to attempt an e-peen enlargement procedure by saying this:

I would challenge ER to an internet fight, and I will win and I will send her back to the kitchen where she belongs.
Read the whole thread to find out what happened next. Apparently, his e-peen enlargement didn't turn out so well...

Last but not least, we have a lulzy high-school fucktard who wanted to 'hack the school bully' or something retarded like that. After asking the famous about-to-fail question 'How do I hack?', he was epically trolled into deleting System32. Being the leet deleter that he is, he fell for it hook, line, and sinker. He would now like to be known as 'RUINED', and you can read all about his lulzy adventure through troll-land here.

[sarcasm]I've got to admit, 'RUINED' is a pretty leet-ass handle.[/sarcasm]

PROTIP: The internet does make you stupid.

I have been tagged by db0 with a fairly new meme. GOGOGOGOGO Anon- Onwards, science soldiers!

Can You Remember The Day That You Officially Became An Atheist?

Actually, no. Although I was brought up in a religious family, I never actually believed in any of that theistarded garbage. I never officially 'became' an atheist because I don't think I could have ever called myself a theist in the first place. Because of that, I don't have a nice little deconversion story to tell. I'm boring, I guess. :(

Do you remember the day you officially became an agnostic?

No. See above. I never 'questioned god' because I never believed in such a thing.

How about the last time you spoke or prayed to God with actual thought that someone was listening?

I've gone through the motions and all; but with actual thought that some sky-daddy was listening - no. I think praying makes people look stupid and theistarded, and that was how I felt even when I was way younger. People praying = Epic lulz. Fuck yeah!

(Eh...I don't think I even remember the first time I realized I loved the lulz either.)

Did anger towards God or religion help cause you to be an atheist or agnostic?

No. I just remember thinking (back when I was a kid) that religion was silly and that it made people say and do stupid things. It wasn't until much later that I realized how dangerous religion actually is, and I've been an 'evangelical atheist' ever since.

Here is a good one: Were you agnostic towards ghosts, even after you became an atheist?

I've never believed in ghosts, and I've loved horror movies since I was three.

Horror + Gore = WIN.

Wow, I really am boring. I make up for it by being hornyyyy.

Do you want to be wrong?

No, but if I am I would want to know. I'd rather be told that I am wrong than live in a world of delusion and lies. Give me reality any day!

Fundie Claim #17: No religion, no meaning!

| 12:14 AM | Evolved Rationalist

Fundie: Without religion, life would be meaningless and without purpose! We need god to have a purpose in life! What is the meaning of life in the atheist worldview? There is none, BAWWWWW! The negation of the notion of an afterlife, souls, spirits and zomgwtfgod causes one's life to be pointless. Therefore, we need religion!

Listen up, theistards: If you believe that your life is pointless without a belief in an imaginary sky-daddy that listens to your every prayer, you need to grow the fuck up. Yes, leaving religion is not an easy task, but you seriously need to get a fucking grip. There is so much out there in the world that makes basing your life on a fucking holy book written by mortal men thousands of years ago seem as stupid as believing in Xenu and thetans. Wishing for something to be true does not make it true, so your argument is simply hot air and BAWWWWW.

The obsession with 'purpose' and 'meaning' stems from the human inability and/or refusal to consider that this life is all there is, and that this is it. Many people simply cannot face the fact that after they cease breathing, it's kthxbai over. Humans are egotistical creatures, as seen in religions that claim that man is the center of the universe, and notice that such religions tend to resist any progress that casts doubt on this idea (Galileo, anyone?). Humans are often femotionally needy and we can't comprehend the fact that our lifespan is fleeting, temporal...and then, nothing. We are just going to end up in the ground being worm food no matter what, and this fact often makes people go BAWWWWW.

There seems to be an increasing tendency among atheists to downplay this aspect of rationalism when dealing with religious nuts, perhaps in order to avoid playing into their hands. In my opinion, fuck this shit. We need to outgrow our delusions of 'meaning' and 'purpose', pointing out that the only meaning and purpose to life is what we make out of it. The universe doesn't care, there are no gods who fucking care, there are no angels looking out for us - nobody cares and will care unless we humans take it into our hands and start caring.

We need to get over our obsession with purpose, and I see no reason to hide the fact that we live in a purposeless world just to make people feel better about themselves. We need to make this fact known so that people would take responsibility for their own lives instead of sitting around and whining about how god will look after them or that their sorry lives are a part of god's plan.

If we don't wake the fuck up and be responsible for our own lives without deluding ourselves about a higher power looking after us, humanity is headed on a path to self-destruction; and no amount of wailing about 'meaning' or 'purpose' is going to change it.

Grow the fuck up, humans.

For those who need an introduction, VenomFangX is a particularly clueless and lulz-inducing creationist who insists on clogging up YouTube with insanity that ranges from the idea that evolution is a tool of Satan to fawning screeds of Kent Hovind-worship. Despite being repeatedly called out for his outrageous and blatantly false claims, VenomFangX has adamantly refused to admit that his claims are all made out of hot air.

The story took a turn for the funny when VenomFang X decided that he did not like the series “Why Do People Laugh at Creationists?” made by another user, Thunderf00t. (He BAWWWW-ed). He proceeded to file false DMCA notices against Thunderf00t in an attempt at censorship. Thunderf00t decided that it was time to teach our creationist a lesson, and obtained proof that VenomFangX deliberately committed perjury in the process of filing the claims. Instead of suing the living daylights out of VenomFangX and having his account permabanned from YouTube, Thunderf00t decided to make a public example out of VenomFangX by making him - gasp - apologize and admit that he was lying all along.

Lulzy version (from ED):

VFX: Hey! These videos that are criticizing me use clips from my videos. That means I can file a metric shit-ton of DMCAs and get them taken down.

Thunderf00t: Actually clips used for satire and criticism are covered by 'fair use.' Also, did you know that you could be charged with perjury for filing false DMCAs?

VFX: Um..... A "friend" of mine filed some DMCAs by mistake. You see there was this big list of DMCAs and two of your videos accidentally got put on there. I'm so very sorry about this, old chum. I'll be the first to admit that as a filthy sin-ridden human, I'm fallible and sometimes make mistakes. Can we be friends now?

Thunderf00t: No. Leave YouTube for a year or I'll pursue the perjury charges.

VFX: YOU CAN'T USE CLIPS OF MY VIDEOS! I made them, I own the copyright on them. My DMCAs were totally justified! This is censorship!

Thunderf00t: Nvm this shit, I'll let you off the hook. I don't want to have your account deleted 'cause you're just too much fun. But you have to tell everyone you're a tard and a liar.

VFX: Ok sry, my bad. Kthxbai.

Click here to watch VenomFangX getting owned.

Read the whole story about the lulz-inducing pwnage of VenomFangX over at Encyclopedia Dramatica. (NSFW)

Apparently, his devotion to Jesus did not stop VenomFangX from lying. Oh, the irony of it all!

Welcome to the internet

Also, gogogogogo listen to the song by the Futuristic Sex Robotz (they're awesome...and ZOMG free download!). I've reproduced the lyrics here, and believe me, I lol'ed.

PC Speaker:
Sit down and take five while I defrag your drive
With Jack in the Box tacos and a dope G5
If you bought MySpace Records Volume 1
I'm gonna shoot you in the face with my Internet gun
My hard drive is huge, MP3s are external
Back up off the urinal and write in my LiveJournal
At the 'puter all night cause my life is nocturnal
Data backup assures that my porn is eternal
"You crazy," that's what all those bitches got to say
So I whip it out and post a pic in my LJ
Friends only cause I don't want my Mom to see
If she saw, she'd cut off the Internet and cable TV
But I don't give a fuck about those Internet hoes
I gotta cut 'em off before they want to propose
'Cause the herpes isn't covered by my HMOs
Deleted from my buddy list and that's how it goes

Futuristic Sex Robotz, always on the scene
And we'll heat up your case just like an Athlon XP
We don't have no love for the Internet skeeze
'Cause our PayPal accounts are overflowing with green

Trippin balls in bathroom stalls
Waitin for a fine-ass bitch to call
The THC hits my CPU
And I'm chasin after dimes like an Orthodox Jew
Plug and Play a bitch, I'm a player bitch
Like some virus shit, countin website hits
My Punisher fan grill is illin
When I see you on the street, your shit will be spillin,
I'll infect you with Sasser and MS Blaster,
Pop-ups be poppin up faster and faster,
I master a DAT tape full of raw raps, perhaps
My shit make your whole crew collapse
All you hackers, who gettin on my case
Coaxke is here, and I'll reformat your fuckin face

PC Speaker:
Sit back, 'cause I got a little story to tell
And no I'm not talkin about no AOL
I'm talkin about how Firefox saved me from browser hell
While I was usin Internet Explorer on my DSL
Firefox 0.3, it spoke to me
It said "I'll make your life better than you ever could dream
I'll get rid of all those pop-ups for free MP3s
And I'll blow spyware's head off while it's down on its knees"

Something tells me that Mary is going to have a little BAWWWW in 3, 2, 1...

Child abuse? It's AWWRIGHT...

10/11/2008 | 7:54 PM | Evolved Rationalist

...if done in the name of religion, apparently.

The Christards sure get their asses kicked all the time on this blog for being a bunch of theistarded and deluded whackaloons. What a lot of people have not realized is that Hinduism and Buddhism can cause as much child abuse and theistardation as the Abrahamic religions. If you are one of the people who think that Eastern religions are AWWRIGHT and that they are not as harmful as the Christarded variety, think again.

Hindu and Buddhist priests chanted sacred hymns and cascaded flowers and grains of rice over a 3-year-old girl who was appointed a living goddess in Nepal on Tuesday. She will be worshipped by Hindus and Buddhists as an incarnation of the powerful Hindu deity Taleju.
Living goddess, eh? As ridiculous and fucktarded as this notion may seem, maybe some of you are still thinking that it is AWWRIGHT. Read on:
The judges read the candidates' horoscopes and check each one for physical imperfections. The living goddess must have perfect hair, eyes, teeth and skin with no scars, and should not be afraid of the dark.
Ah, I see...

1. Have the correct horoscope.
2. Look 'pretty'. (Are the judges pedos horny old men, by any chance?)
4. ???
5. PROFIT!!!

As a final test, the living goddess must spend a night alone in a room among the heads of ritually slaughtered goats and buffaloes without showing fear.

Yeah, a three year old child should be kept alone in a room for a whole fucking night with dismembered animal heads just so that some brainwashed, idiotic adults can have their idiotic religious beliefs. Where religion is concerned, a three year old child who does not know what the fuck is going on should be expected to not show fear when alone in the dark surrounded with smelly rotting animal heads - while putting a child through that shit in any other circumstance would produce outrage and cries of 'child abuse'. Religion is the free pass that enables shit that would normally not fly otherwise seem AWWRIGHT, it enables the idiots who indulge in such shit to scream 'persecution, BAWWWWW' when they are criticized by the sensible few, and it enables the appeasers to support this rot in the name of not offending anyone.

[appeaser-speak] Remember, kids: When it comes to religion, it's AWWRIGHT! Thou shall not question nor criticize, because we're talking about religion here. We need to respect their beliefs no matter how fucktarded they seem because we don't want to piss them off! Religion is serious business! [/end appeaser-speak]

Having passed all the tests, the child will stay in almost complete isolation at the temple, and will be allowed to return to her family only at the onset of menstruation when a new goddess will be named to replace her.

Folks, can't you see how crazy this is? Apparently taking a child away from her parents for the sake of an ancient, outdated, cruel superstition is AWWRIGHT because it is oh-so-holy and people shouldn't question it. It is AWWRIGHT because religion is involved. This fucking pedophilic worship of a child as a 'goddess' is totally AWWRIGHT because the holy men say so! It's AWWRIGHT, folks! Keep convincing yourselves that it is AWWRIGHT, and it will be.

You must be wondering what the parents are saying about having their child taken away from them to live in fucking isolation. You must be assuming that the parents are outraged at this travesty, right?

Think again. When it comes to religion, even the parents think that it is AWWRIGHT:

"I feel a bit sad, but since my child has become a living goddess I feel proud," said her father Pratap Man Shakya.

A bit sad?! Proud that your own child has been taken away from you to live in almost complete isolation? What the flying fuck?

See the complete theistarded lunacy of religion, folks? Religion normalizes what would rightly be seen as an outrage in normal circumstances; it encourages apathy within the community about basic moral stances on what is right and wrong; and it causes outsiders who may be uncomfortable with what is going on to shut up just because they prefer not to offend the religious morons. See how dangerous an unquestioning belief in something can get? See how far-reaching the consequences can be?

Critics say the tradition violates both international and Nepalese laws on child rights. The girls often struggle to readjust to normal lives after they return home.

Nepalese folklore holds that men who marry a former kumari will die young, and so many girls remain unmarried and face a life of hardship.

Translation: Milk the child for what it's worth in your fucktarded religion, and after all has been said and done, ruin the child's life for what it's worth in your fucktarded religion! It's AWWRIGHT because the dirty old holy men say so!

I rest my case.

Whoops - we're talking about religion here. Remember: It's AWWRIGHT!!

Be afraid, Mary. Be very afraid.

10/09/2008 | 9:00 PM | Evolved Rationalist

After reading this comment (click on the link and read it, or this post would make no sense) by our local Scientologist lolcow Mary, I dug around my /b/ folder for a bit and found this totally apt demotivator:

Uh oh...

At this point, Mary should leave the internet at once; or better yet do the final solution: 'An Hero'.

P.S. If you need a tl;dr version of the origin of the 'An Hero' meme, here it is:

Mary performing the noble act of 'An Hero' would ensure that her stupid $cilon genes don't propagate, and perhaps win her a Darwin Award at the same time. Wouldn't that made a great Encyclopedia Dramatica article?

Also: Hackers are awesome. 4chan is awesome. Anonymous is awesome. /b/ is awesome.

Let's just hope that Mary joins the club of An Heroes:

This is the grave of the original 'An Hero', Mitchell Henderson:

Just think about it, folks. If Mary decides to 'An Hero', her grave would have a copy of Dianetics on it...or a Guy Fawkes mask for great justice. Oh, the lulz! Oh, the utter perfection!

Disclaimer: This post is satirical in nature. Don't be a stupid piece of shit and then go BAWWWW and blame it on me. Lulz.

Skeptics' Circle #97: A wild mudkip appears!

| 12:05 AM | Evolved Rationalist

For the lulz and for great justice, welcome to the 97th edition of the Skeptics' Circle, mudkip included! W00t!

First up is a post by Greta Cristina about about the fable of the blind men and the elephant. Some people use this fable as a metaphor for religion, to explain why different religions could disagree so vehemently and still be perceiving the same real God. Greta turns that fable around by pointing out that it actually makes a better metaphor for science than for religion, and that it strongly supports an argument for religion as entirely made up by people and hence perceiving absolutely nothing real at all.

Next, Skelliot blogs about his experiences with 'ZOMG Big Pharma!' and how skepticism prevented him from being trolled duped by homeopathic medicine. Epic lulz were had by all, including the mudkip.

Z from It's the Thought That Counts has a post up about educating the public about the value of science and evidence. As skeptics, this is an issue that a lot of us are concerned about, and his post sheds some light into it all. The mudkip says 'Me likey likey.'

Over at The Evolving Mind, Andrew discusses how the line between life and death is not black and white; thus making tales of having returned from death - and maybe glimpsed heaven or having temporarily reunited with one's long-dead, beloved cat that tragically got run over by a UPS truck - much less profound. He makes the point that if there is no clear threshold, there is no true "having left" and "having returned", making the whole idea of life after death turn into EPIC FAIL.

Bing over at Happy Jihad's House of Pancakes delivers a truckload of pwnage to the lulzy folks over at Answers in Genesis. Our mudkip approves of both his blog title and the smackdown of the AiG lolcows.

Kylie Sturgess has two posts in this carnival: One from her blog, Podblack Cat, where she discusses how research and enthusiasm can get kids questioning; and another from the Skeptic Zone about the 9/11 kooks conspiracy theorists.

Up next, we have Theo over at Humbug! Online posting about his new podcast, which is about the general idea of fallacies and "critical thinking", and how to spot those fallacies and the general disposition of "seeking after truth".

Meanwhile, our mudkip enjoys more lulz by way of this excellent piece of skeptically-themed fiction, courtesy of Joe at cotch dot net. ZOMG! Another lulzy blog title. Mudkip approves.

Next, we have Paddy K with two awesome skeptical submissions, one about Swedish nuclear power and the other one aptly titled 'Sleeping with the Fishes'.

At Science after Sunclipse, Blake Stacey posts on a subject that has become popular yet again: 'How to Propel Pseudoscience'. His post is a must-read for everyone interested in skepticism and fighting pseudoscience. The mudkip says GO READ!

A common gripe among us skeptics/science-minded folks is how the traditional media often utterly FAILs at reporting science. Peter from denialism blog hits the nail on the head with his post 'The Times doesn't know Bayes'. Dammit, journalists - even a wild mudkip can write better articles than you people sometimes!

In another double WIN, the Perky Skeptic blogs about how her best friend in first grade contributed to her disbelief in the Bible and how Baby God stories serve to fire up the imagination of children and draw them to theism.

After someone on LiveJournal alerted him to Dan Akroyd's latest chunk of craziness, Lord Runoflr couldn't resist writing an article about it. You are hereby advised by the mudkip to go over there and watch him exercising his skeptical chops. GOGOGOGO!

Meanwhile, RNB over at Reduce to Common Sense has a nice post up about diversity. If you think that skepticism isn't diverse, think again.

Finally, if you have been reading the last few posts on my blog and are keeping up with the 'Mary the Scilon' saga, you would understand how pleased I was that Mark over at Be Lambic or Be Green has posted on a subject close to my heart: Why Scientology Won't Go Away. Our mudkip does not like $cientoLOLgy at all, and wishes the worst of luck to the dangerous cult. May the Scilons be pwned by Anonymous forever and ever for epic lulz.

So I heard you like mudkips?

Mudkips and lulz aside, the next Skeptics' Circle will be held at The Uncredible Hallq on the 23rd of October. Send your skeptical entries to Chris in time for the next Circle for more skeptical goodness!

Science > Religion

10/08/2008 | 9:01 PM | Evolved Rationalist

As much as theistards may hope for a miracle, praying for a limb will not cause the limb to magically miraculously regrow. Thankfully, there is this thing called science that actually does help people:

Karl Merk, a German dairy farmer whose arms had been amputated after an accident, said he felt like a "whole man" again as he spoke for the first time since the operation in July.

"The feeling is indescribable. Every day I gain more mobility," said Mr Merk as he showed off the arms, which are being supported by a special "corset" while the healing continues.

Six years ago Mr Merk lost his arms in a farm maize threshing machine. Found by a colleague as he lay bleeding to death, he screamed: "Kill me, kill me!" But the man saved his life instead.

Doctors at the teaching hospital of the Technical University in Munich then planned a world first: to transplant two arms at once. The procedure was conducted over two days in July.

A team of 40 surgeons and nurses working in two operating rooms removed the arms from the donor, who had died only hours before, and transplanted them to mr Merk, who had only been left with small stumps just below his shoulders following his amputations.

We are all still waiting for the same god who supposedly parted the Red Sea, created the whole fucking universe (lulz), walked on water, did all sorts of amazing miracles in Biblical times (but who is strangely silent now), and resurrected himself/his son/zomgwtfspirit to do something as comparatively simple as to regrow an amputated limb. By nature of being a god, the great imaginary god of the theistard would obviously know that there are millions of people desperately praying for such a miracle to happen. For all the claims that the faith healers make, why hasn't anyone regrown an amputated limb?

A theistarded belief in god is a mockery of modern civilization. Humanity needs to grow the fuck up or suffer the consequences of such a theistarded belief.

Theistards, the choice is yours. Use your evolution-given brain and choose wisely. Remember, grow the fuck up and wise the fuck up before it is too late.

David Kernell: IRL V&!

| 1:23 PM | Evolved Rationalist

Rubico aka FAILphisher aka lulz-provider aka David Kernell got pwned by the partyvan, hence proving the famous mantra: The internet is serious business.

PROTIP: Learn to proxy, you silly kids. Use seven fucking proxies before even thinking of doing illegal shit. Also, bragging and namefagging (among other things) leads to an IRL V&. Use your fucking brain and shut your bragging mouth. Jeez.

What I meant to say was: Don't do illegal shit in the first place, kids. The lulz will end up being on you when you are so fucking dumb.

Disclaimer: I do not support/condone/encourage illegal activity. Posts on this blog should be taken with a grain of salt and a generous serving of lulz.

Great comic for Mary the $cilon

10/07/2008 | 5:01 PM | Evolved Rationalist

Oh lawd, is this a Mary day or what?

One of my readers sent me a link to this comic; and he seems to think that Mary the $cilon would appreciate it. Since Mary has repeatedly refused to read the Jargon File and even called the FBI on me when I tried to show her some sense, what are the chances that she would learn something now?

I am not holding my breath, but here it is:

Is Mary going to prove us all wrong by actually getting it for once?

| 4:52 PM | Evolved Rationalist

In another lulzy act of completely making a fool out herself, our resident Scientologist lolcow, Mary, has shown that she is completely ignorant of what her cult actually believes:

Hubbard never said anything about Xenu or galactic aliens. Anonymous are a bunch of criminals and hackers who make us Scientologists look bad in the media, and lie about what we believe! This is persecution! There is nothing about Xenu in Scientology, you criminals!
Here is a page from the 'super-secret' OTIII dox where LOL Ron Hubbard talks about Xenu, in his very own handwriting:

Mary, you have just lost the game. You are either lying or simply an ignorant fucktard. How much do they ask you to pay before they tell you those secrets, Mary? Don't you know that those 'secrets' have been floating around the internet for a while now? Why are you still in that dangerous cult, Mary? Why don't you open your fucking eyes and get a clue?

All the OT documents and other supposedly secret dox (which include scary shit like 'Child Dianetics') can be downloaded here, courtesy of the hackers on steroids from Ebaumsworld. Lulz.

Oh lawd is that some delicious dox?

Information should be free, so spread the delicious dox far and wide so that more people can have lulz at the Scilons' expense.

(In b4 Mary calls the FBI again.)

'New Anonymous' is an epic failure

10/06/2008 | 9:11 PM | Evolved Rationalist

This page on the AnonHouston Wiki is one of the reasons why we can't have nice things. The amount of BAWWWW and anti-lulz on that page is among the worst things I have seen from the so-called 'new Anonymous' camp:

One obstacle we will definitely face in the future is that of our public perception. The old Anonymous of the chans and insurgency boards, known as "hackers on steroids" and an "internet hate machine" largely dominates public perception of us.

What. The. Flying. Fuck.

The 'old Anonymous' dominates the public perception of Anonymous?! After all the BAWWWWing, media whoring, and making complete fools out of themselves on the streets wearing masks and yelling obscure internet memes; those idiots are now claiming that they are not getting enough attention and that they have not hijacked the concept of Anonymous enough. Greedy fuckwits.

When the average person is asked about what 'Anonymous' is, the first thing that would come to mind is, sadly, those people wearing masks and looking like idiots. The fact that the 'new Anonymous' fools are whining about the public perception of Anonymous is breathtaking and idiotic in the highest degree.

Oh, and what is this shit about how the Chans are hurting the public perception of their zealous quest to dismantle the CoS? Have they conveniently forgotten the not-too-PR-friendly history of their own origins? Now that they have supposedly distanced themselves from the Chans in order to bamboozle the public and present a politically correct image to their beloved media, they are now trying hard to hide what Anonymous was, way back before it was hijacked by the mask-wearing nincompoops.

Let me tell you something, 'new Anonymous': If you think that the Chans are hurting your public image, why the fuck are you standing on the streets yelling memes that originated on the very Chan boards that you so denounce? Why are you using Chan terminology while BAWWWWing about how the Chans make you and your pathetic quest look bad? Why did you adopt the name of Anonymous and twist Anonymous culture and then have the temerity to whine about your association with the Chans?

New Anons, remember how you call your IRL anti-Scientology protests 'raids'? Don't you want the public to know the origin of the term 'raid', or does that bring to mind those pesky insurgency boards and the 'hackers on steroids' that you want to disassociate yourselves from? Don't you want the public to know exactly where the meme 'delicious cake' came from? Don't you want the public to know that your beloved #xenu IRC channel is on the same server as #insurgency and #raid (ZOMG hackers! OH NOES!), to name a few? Don't you want the public to know about 711chan (lol, my favorite Chan), where the early planning for Project Chanology took place? Don't you want the public to see some of the more - interesting - boards on 711chan? Don't you, fucktards? Don't you?

I could go on, but I think this short list is enough to make 'new Anons' BAWWWW.

I know of a certain lying, dangerous cult that tries to present a 'good image' to the media while pushing the aspects of their organization that they don't want the public to see into the background. That cult is called Scientology.

Think about this hard fact long and hard, 'new Anons'.

If the above made you rage, check this out:
Many articles depict Anonymous as a group of faceless hackers, while others in the media have researched Anonymous and believe it is made up of the racist, immature, meme-reciting and ADD-affected kids who post on a group of forums known as 'the chans.'
This is what happens when you take the internet too seriously, 'new Anons'. You idiots FAIL so badly, that instead of becoming lulz you have become the anti-lulz. You are the cancer that is killing not only /b/, but the very concept of 'Anonymous' itself.
An attractive goal has made itself apparent in recent months. A goal which all of Anonymous, of varied types and mindsets, has felt compelled to contribute to. The goal of shutting down the cult of misinformation and greed, The Church of Scientology, has proven to be a goal that has united and expanded Anonymous.
All of 'Anonymous' are 'united' to fight Scientology? WTF? All of Anonymous?

Fuck you, 'new Anonymous'. In more ways than one, you have become as bad as the dangerous cult of Scientology.

For now, I'm off to those despicable, slimy, and scummy Chans; the place where "hackers on steroids" and the "internet hate machine" supposedly resides.

Also, lulz.

Disclaimer: For people who have not figured out by now that nobody can rightfully claim to be speaking for 'all of Anonymous', this post is based on my personal opinion and mine only. tl;dr: I did it for the lulz.

Spore is evil. Fuck Spore.

10/05/2008 | 12:46 PM | Evolved Rationalist

No, not in the 'Spore promotes evil Darwinism!' kind of way. I'm talking about the DRM kind of evil.

Ever since Spore was released, I've had loads of e-mails asking me about it. Sorry to disappoint, but I am not going to buy it.

It is pretty simple: Game has DRM shit on it -----> Not giving them my money.

No exceptions.

I don't care how much people are salivating over the game. I don't care how cute those Spore creatures may or may not look. If EA wants to use draconian, evil, DRM shit to treat paying customers like filthy criminals, I am not going to give them a cent of my money. I will not spend a shitton of money on a game that requires me to activate over the internet and places a limit of three activations (Shock! Horror! WTF?). I will not support a game that promotes this sort of CRAP. I will not tolerate being prematurely treated as a pirating thief after spending my my hard-earned money on those those DRM-loving idiots.

tl;dr version: I will not support this fucking piece of shit.

The most ironic thing about this is that the DRM shit does not do a thing to prevent piracy. Spore was apparently already available and nicely torrented nearly a week before launch. (Piracy is bad, kids. Don't even think about getting the cracked version. Seriously.) Nobody who wants to pirate will be affected at all by the ridiculous install restrictions.

If EA is going to be whining about the money they are losing to piracy, that is exactly why they should understand that the DRM crap is anything but reasonable. They are going to lose more money from the damage they are doing to their name by using draconian methods in their FAIL quest to stop the pirates; and I am sure that there are people who would have otherwise bought the game that are now not buying the it or have simply decided to go with the pirated version. In the end, EA is going to lose more money because of their irrational stupidity.

tl; dr: LULZ.

When law-abiding customers get treated like criminals while pirates end up having lulz at the DRM idiots' expense, the draconian DRM fools have already lost the game; and I see no reason to support this travesty.

Fuck Spore. Fuck DRM. I'll take my money elsewhere, thank you very much.

Molecular clock analysis shows that HIV has diversified.

| 11:55 AM | Evolved Rationalist

A lot. Like ZOMG a lot!

A preserved specimen of lymph node nearly half a century old has revealed how rapidly the HIV virus has diversified, according to international research.

A team of researchers from around the world has been trawling through decades-old tissue samples from African hospital archives in the hope of finding samples containing the HIV virus.

They struck it lucky with a sample that was collected back in 1960, from a woman living in what is now the Democratic Republic of Congo.

This is the second-oldest sample of the HIV virus ever found - the oldest is from 1959.

The researchers found that the HIV viral sequences these two samples differ significantly in their genetic makeup.

While the real scientists were trawling through decades-old tissue samples in hospital archives, the creationists were busy whining and and BAWWWWing about how evolution is wrong (by not doing any real science) and choosing to live off their gullible flock of sheep instead.

Fuck you, creationists. Fuck you theistarded piles of hypocritical dung.

For some real science, the paper in Nature regarding this discovery can be found here.

Creationists, get an education, learn something, and stop being gullible, theistarded sheep. Whenever science trumps your idiotic beliefs to the ground, rest assured that a lot of us are having lulz at your expense, and there is nothing your so-called god can do about the fact that science is kicking your religion in the ass.

I lol'ed.

DaveScot needs to stop failing

10/02/2008 | 8:29 PM | Evolved Rationalist

Just when we thought that DaveScot may have finally decided to make a teeny bit of sense after all, he ends up crashing our hopes to the ground by posting something so mind-numbingly ridiculous; making us realize that his drama is a train wreck that we simply cannot stop watching. Over at Uncommon Descent, he decides to have a little fun with Google Trends:

He triumphantly posts:

Blue: Intelligent Design
Red: Darwinian Evolution
Orange: Scientific Creationism
Green: Theological Evolution

Any questions?
Yeah, DaveScot. Because, you know, your average Googler would use the term ‘Darwinian Evolution’ when looking up information on evolutionary biology.

Good to know. Looking at the graph, we see ID getting lots of attention in 2005 at the time that the Dover trial was talking place and when the IDiots were whining and BAWWWWing about being trounced in court. However, notice that there apparently has been hardly any interest in ID before Dover, and still hardly any after the dust from Dover settled. For all the books the IDiots have been writing, for all the propaganda they have been spewing, for all their bleating over Expelled - people are simply not paying attention. Yes, the scientific community already knew long ago that ID was a crock, but apparently nobody else has been paying attention either. Funny how DaveScot chooses not to mention this (which would have been plainly obvious by even a cursory glance at the graph), don’t you think?

Now, let us use Google Trends to get a graph for people searching for ‘evolution’, which would obviously be the choice for someone looking for information about - gasp - evolution. To be fair, I will also use ‘creationism’ instead of ’scientific creationism’. We get this:

Ouch. That must hurt for DaveScot who just a moment ago was arrogantly asking for questions. When asked why he used the term ‘Darwinian evolution’ instead of just ‘evolution’, he responded:

ID doesn’t dispute all “evolution”. It disputes Darwinian evolution.

Just…wow. Despite the fact that the IDiots have never been able to come up with an actual answer to what ID actually is and despite the fact that they have never been able to agree on what part of ‘evolution’ they actually accept (Behe accepts common descent and human evolution, Dembski does not, etc.), DaveScot is now fudging and shifting the goalposts again in an effort to have his cake and eat it too. What makes this whole situation even more hilarious is that based on the very graph that he posted, most people not only do not buy into the ID nonsense, they do not even seem to care! The IDiots have failed at convincing the scientific community to give their unscientific dogma the time of the day and they have apparently not made much headway in the court of public opinion as well, even with all this fudging and hedging.

I am really curious as to what ‘evolution’ the IDiots accept. The Lamarackian version?

He continues:
When I say Darwinian evolution I mean the term writ large accounting for the entire history of life on earth. Do I really need to tediously qualify it at every mention? I don’t think so. Most of the subscribers and audience here recognize by now that micro-evolution by chance & necessity is not being disputed. We don’t dispute facts. We dispute theory.
Uh…what? ID does not accept evolution that accounts for the history of life on earth but accepts micro-evolution, which somehow does not qualify as ‘Darwinian evolution’? Why wouldn’t micro-evolution qualify as being ‘Darwinian’, but somehow explaining the history of life counts as ‘Darwinian’ evolution? What is the imaginary barrier separating the two? At this point, we can safely say that DaveScot does not have a clue and is making it up and fudging even more in an effort to blunder along.

Maybe, DaveScot, it is time for you and the rest of your ID propagandists to stop failing.

As much as your whole IDiotic saga has been a great source of lulz and entertainment, just…stop.

ZOMG speciation observed!

| 1:04 PM | Evolved Rationalist

Speciation has been observed in nature yet again.

Some female fish have eyes for their man only. Colourful African cichlids have evolved into new species because females are partially blind to others.

But even as that discovery is made, the species are under threat because the polluted waters they live in are causing them to interbreed.

Lulz on you, cretinshits creationists. How does it feel like being pwned over 9000 times? Is the resulting butthurt enough for you to join us in reality, or are you doing to still delude yourself with your godbot lies and delusions? Choose wisely.

Mutations in the genes for light-detecting proteins called opsins explain why, Seehausen says. His team found that these genes had changed faster than the rest of the fish's genes, a sign of evolution in action. Red fish evolved red-sensing opsins, while blue fish developed blue-sensing proteins.

Tests in laboratory tanks confirmed that females with red-sensing eyes went for red males, while blue-eyed females followed suit. Hybrid females, just like those in the murky waters, showed no preference at all.

The paper that the article is based on can be found here.

The next time a cretinshit BAWWWWs about how evolution 'has never been observed', tell him/her to get an education and a life (not necessarily in that order). At this point and with all the scientific evidence available to demonstrate that evolution did happen and is still happening, creationists are either stupid, ignorant, deluded, or just plain theistarded.

Tangled Bank #115: The awesome level is over 9000!

10/01/2008 | 12:32 AM | Evolved Rationalist

Welcome to the 115th edition of the Tangled Bank, a biweekly blog carnival featuring the best science and medicine posts in the blogosphere. The name of this carnival was taken from Charles Darwin's famous metaphor:

It is interesting to contemplate a tangled bank, clothed with many plants of many kinds, with birds singing on the bushes, with various insects flitting about, and with worms crawling through the damp earth, and to reflect that these elaborately constructed forms, so different from each other, and dependent upon each other in so complex a manner, have all been produced by laws acting around us.
If you are new to Evolved and Rational, this blog deals with science, evolution, creationism, skepticism, atheism, and internet culture; albeit with a generous serving of lulz. If you like what you see, please subscribe to the RSS feed. Also, check out the FAQ page.

Onwards, science soldiers - let's get on with the show!
  • To get things going, how about some sex? Susan Johnson at The Gallimaufriologist has a post up in which she explains light pattern mimicry between firefly species in order to get food and sex.
  • From the aptly-named Behe Fails Weblog, Glen Davidson brings us a post answering Behe regarding eye evolution, where he points out how vertebrates have highly-modified cilia in their photoreceptors; which is as accidental a fact as the fact that cilia are made up of cytoplasmic transport machinery. tl;dr: The eye is an accident throughout, so have some lulz at Behe's expense.
  • Larry Ferlazzo posts about a series of online science interactives that are environment-related. Do check those awesome links out!
  • In the post "In Response to an Animal Rights Apologist", Chris at A Free Man brings a rational slant to the heated issue of animal "rights".
Most animal rights campaigners are earnest, if in my opinion misguided, people with a real concern for animal welfare. Many of them are unknowingly being led by wild-eyed, violent, extremists that have no concern for the truth. They use shock tactics and horrifying images to mislead compassionate people. They have less regard for human life than they do for animal life.
  • Over at Highlight Health, Walter Jessen discusses how a large-scale, multi-dimensional analysis of the genomic characteristics of glioblastoma provides new insights into the roles of several genes and defines core biological pathways altered in tumor development.
  • More lulz are to be had, this time at theologian Alvin Plantinga's expense. Daniel Floren of Unreasonable Faith debunks Plantinga's assertion that "one cannot rationally accept both evolution and naturalism."
  • At Mors Dei, Jared Cormier reviews what we know about Agkistrodon species. Did you know that Anolis carolinensis is known for it’s ability to change color based upon its mood, and like most iguanids, does “pushups” instead of physical conflict in most cases? Talk about awesome.
  • If food is more your thing, get ready for some food science! Brian has a post on searing meat over at The Off Season Recipe Blog.
  • Over at his blog, Mr. McGehee has a homework resource up for the 6th and 9th graders that he teaches. Ah, it brings back memories...fond and otherwise.
  • Greg Laden posts a review of a paper on how human societies tend to be at least a little polygynous. Shock! Horror!
  • Diane at Science Made Cool reports on the annual chameleon Furcifer labordi. (I have a terrible fear of lizards and lizard-like creatures, and the photo of the chameleon on that page actually did make me shudder. The lulz is on me this time.)
  • Jeremy Cherfas at Another Blasted Weblog asks an important but often overlooked question: Why does it matter that we don’t understand as much as we think we do? This post really got me thinking, so I would recommend that you put your thinking caps on and check it out.
  • Over at Aetiology, Tara Smith wonders if Obama's goal to provide support to end malaria deaths in Africa by 2015 is attainable or merely a lofty goal.
  • Larry Moran of Sandwalk discusses the number of genes in the model organism Caenorhabditis elegans. A new nematode genome sequence has just been published and the estimates of gene number in that genome are slightly higher at 23,500 genes. Thus, it looks like the simple nematodes have as many or more genes than much more complex looking humans. How can that be? OH NOES!!
  • Scicurious at Neurotopia blogs about how the brain predicts reward and how conditioned stimulus learning takes place.
  • Meanwhile, Lou, FCD at Crowded Head, Cozy Bed blogs his biology class. Among the topics covered are the differences between prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells, and the structure of the eukaryotic cell. There is also an animated demonstration of the Charles Brown Structural and Cellular Inscription and Basic Biology Lesson Extraction method of cell diagramming.
  • This November, Colorado will put a referendum on its ballot to define conception as life's beginning. Ames at Submitted to a Candid World posts about how the result will be shockingly unconstitutional.
That has been some delicious cake. The next edition of the Tangled bank will be at Pro-science on the 15th of October. Send your submissions to pzmyers(at)gmail(dot)com for great justice.
